On-going volunteer opportunities are listed below. Volunteers are needed throughout the week – join us on Sunday afternoon to clean rooms between guests – stop by during the week to help clean public areas of the retreat center. There’s always something to do . . . we have lots of windows that need cleaning, floors that need a dust mop and more!! Cleaning is our biggest need at this point – although we have many opportunities for people to get involved. Stop by Monday – Friday at 9am or 1pm and join the cleaning crew. Weekend cleaning is also an option – since retreats are usually in session on weekends, cleaning is scheduled for 1pm on Sundays.
If cleaning is not your area of interest, please review the volunteering opportunities listed below and complete a Prospective Volunteer Profile. Send the completed form to us.
Retreat/Event Reception – Volunteers interested in being retreat or event receptionists are needed when guests are using the retreat center facilities. Volunteers will be trained to do guest check-ins, answer guest inquiries and respond to emergencies.
Cleaning – Supplies and equipment will be provided, as well as training, if needed.
- Public Areas/Meeting Rooms –Volunteers willing to do daily cleaning throughout the facility are greatly needed. Public areas will need to be cleaned at least weekly basis. Cleaning needs to be completed daily when guests are on-site.
- Lodging Rooms – Volunteers are needed to clean and prepare sleeping rooms between guest stays. Guest rooms that are well-maintained and clean are essential to the success of the retreat center.
Food Service – Outside catering services will be used for larger groups. For smaller functions, volunteers can assist with general kitchen duties, serving food, and cleaning up.
Laundry Service – Volunteers will be needed to assist with laundering retreat center linens in an on-site laundry facility. Clean linens will need to be restocked in guest rooms between stays.
Maintenance –Volunteers skilled in painting, repairing, gardening, picking up the grounds, etc. will be needed throughout the year.
Prayers – And most importantly, we need people to pray for the continued success of the retreat center and its lasting impact on the spiritual growth and evelopment of our Catholic Family in western South Dakota. Those with an interest in a particular aspect of the Terra Sancta experience (trail work, fire pits, laundry service, retreat participants, etc.) will be provided with details of the work or retreat – dates/times, goals of the project and the first names of the volunteers. Your first name will be shared with the volunteer workers to ensure the connections are made full circle.
Volunteer Teams
Volunteer teams are more than welcome. The team leader/contact person will be contacted after completed forms for all team members have been received and background checks have been conducted. Please indicate on the Prospective Volunteer Profile form if you’re volunteering as part of a team.
If you know of possible volunteer groups from outside the Diocese, please let us know. They will be contacted about work projects.
